6/14/2016-6/15/2016 – Mid-South Bass Guide at Guntersville Lake What a pleasure the past two days have been! Shaun and Travis from New South Wales, Australia came back over the big pond to catch some Guntersville Giants for the 3rd time. The fellas had a blast both days, Tuesday we spent the day yanking them off the ledges with Mussel Crawler Jigs from Tightline Jigs and Tomahawk Worms from Missile baits early on ledges. Today, there was a major Mayfly Hatch and we broke out the Buzzbaits and Tightline Jigs “Catch 5” Big’Ns Swim jigs in a white shad. It was non-stop for most of the day. Water temps are 80 to 85 degrees. We found our best action in 12 -20 FOW on grass ledges and shell beds. The ledge bite is here and should stay until fall. We are taking reservations for July through October for Frog, Ledge, and flipping/punching grass. I have days and USCG Licensed guides available. Now is the time to make your plans with a full time Professional USCG Licensed/Insured guides. As always, we supply all fishing gear including Duckett Rods, LEW’s Reels, lures, and drinking water at no additional cost you. We offer a Military Discount and unmatched dedication to making your trip successful and enjoyable. “Let’s go fish’ in” Captain Jake Davis, Mid-South Bass Guide www.midsouthbassguide.com, msbassguide@comcast.net, Cell 615-613-2382

6/8/2016-6/9/2016 – Mid-South Bass Guide at Guntersville Lake It’s getting hot out there during the day…make sure you are drinking plenty of water, using sun screen, and using some G-Juice from TH Marine in the live wells. Guntersville continues to produce quality fish. It still has its slow periods during the day, but if you remain focused and slow down, you can catch them. We found our best action in 12 -20 FOW on grass ledges and shell beds. Best bite for the morning was Tightline Jigs “Catch 5” Big’N in a white Shad, Tightline Jigs Guntersville Special or Green Tequila on a ½ oz. Mussel Crawler Jig, along with a Texas Rigged D-Bombs. All worked on ledges and shell beds. Water temps are 80 to 82 degrees. The ledge bite is here and should stay until fall. 6/4/2016-6/7/2016 - Mid-South Bass Guide at Guntersville Lake Guntersville continued to produce quality fish over the last 4 days. It still has its slow periods during the day, but if you remain focused and slow down, you can catch them. Saturday started out with some “Roll Tide” catching by Coach McDonald and the remaining three days, some great return clients from Florida and Kentucky. We found our best action in 8-20 FOW on grass ledges and shell beds. Best bite for the morning was Tightline Jigs “Catch 5” Big’N in a white Shad, Tightline Jigs Guntersville Special or Green Tequila on a ½ oz. Mussel Crawler Jig, along with a Texas Rigged D-Bombs. Worked on ledges and shell beds after the sun gets up around 7:30 or 8 am. Today we had a little top water action on Zara Spooks. We also caught some on Missile Baits “Tomahawk” worms along the main channel and creek channels. Water temps are 79 to 80 degrees. The ledge bite is here and should stay until fall. The recent rain and current will greatly improve the ledge bite. We are taking reservations for July through October for Frog, Ledge, and flipping/punching grass. 5/29/2016 – Mid-South Bass Guide at Guntersville Lake Guntersville continued to produce today, as we put fish in the boat on every ledge and shell bed we stopped at. We found our best action in 8-20 FOW. A word of advice…Don’t over think it, keep it simple, and you’ll put them in the boat. We also caught some on Missile Baits “Tomahawk” worms along the main channel and creek channels. Water temps are 79 to 80 degrees. The ledge bite is here and should stay until fall. Fish continued to eat better, and numbers are getting better each day…Some rain and current will greatly improve the ledge bite. From my client today as posted on Facebook…"Bt Bones Jake Davis, I want to say thank you for a great time today on Guntersville Lake. You are an outstanding coach. A huge THANK YOU to Tight Line Jigs for being Brody's first sponsor. It's like Christmas morning around here, with my kitchen table covered in jigs. To say he's excited, would be an understatement. I can't wait to see what big things the future holds for this young man on the water. Fishing is just what he was born to do and he makes me incredibly proud. |

You'll never believe it. Anderson Aldag, and Lee Mattox fished a pretty big college tourney on Smith Lake this Saturday and won!!! It was crazy. All of our fish came on Tight Line Jigs! |
Mason Jones is collegiate angler for Wallace State and Lee Mattox, an angler for the University of Alabama.
We grown up fishing tournaments together. Though we are fishing for separate schools now, we fish any and all tournaments together that aren’t associated with the schools. We have fished just about every lake in Alabama and Tight Line jigs have performed at the highest level on all of them. Since about 10th grade, Lee and I have relied solely on Tight Line jigs. There hasn’t been a day on the water when there wasn’t a Tight Line jig on the deck.
Even though many great anglers registered for the Smith Lake Bassfest tournament, we decided to compete anyway. In practice, we had gotten on a pretty decent jig bite and were confident that it would separate us from the anglers targeting the shad patterns. Conditions became treacherous when the temperature dropped, the wind picked up, and the rain poured down. With those conditions and boat pressure in play, we knew our subtle Tight Line jig presentation would prevail. The day started off extremely slow, but soon picked up in the afternoon.
The fun started when I landed a 4.5 pound largemouth using a 1/2 ounce Ma Ma Bream football head in a brush pile at about 20 feet of water. Lee then smoked a 4 pound spotted bass on a 1/2 ounce Blue Crawfish football head in about 15 feet of water on a secondary point.
When our weigh-in began, we knew we had a good chance of placing high. Out of 248 boats, we ended up placing 30th overall and 2nd in the college division.
Tight Line jigs are go-to baits for both of us in every tournament, especially when the conditions are tough. We are thankful for such a great jig company that keeps us in the top of all tournaments. We give all of our glory to God and praise him for keeping us safe, allowing us to succeed, and for blessing us with the opportunities to compete in a sport that we love so much.
